Strata’s environmental experts have helped clients succeed in their land transfer, redevelopment, regulatory compliance, and cost allocation and recovery projects. We help clients address contamination at active and abandoned industrial facilities, landfills, oil refineries and bulk storage facilities, dry cleaners, gas stations, lumber mills, steel mills, pesticide plants, scrap yards, biosolids facilities, and many other sites.
Working with clients and stakeholders, we design technically sound and cost-effective strategies for cleaning up properties consistent with future land use. One size does not fit all! Strata develops tailored environmental investigations and cleanup remedies that are commensurate with the challenges and circumstances of each site based on our expertise with the fate and transport of contaminants and our deep understanding of state and federal regulations. Our team routinely performs Remedial Investigation/Feasibility Studies (RI/FS) under Order and thoroughly understands state and federal RI/FS requirements. Regulatory agencies routinely compliment our superior quality work products and streamlining because we present data concisely and visually with the right level of detail and clarity.
Strata staff are recognized as regulatory experts and know how to navigate local, state, and federal regulations for our clients’ project success. We have deep experience in Washington State’s Model Toxics Control Act (MTCA) cost recovery, and in Superfund and Natural Resource Damage allocation, using tools such as costing, attribution, forensics, statistics, the National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES), sourcing, and fate and transport analyses. Strata staff are leaders in emerging contaminants, including PFAS investigation and response planning. We know how to navigate the evolving requirements, identify sources, and control plume migration to minimize cleanup.
Strata’s hydrogeologists have helped clients develop groundwater supplies throughout the Pacific Northwest through local and regional planning, hydrogeologic characterization, the design and testing of numerous exploration and production wells, and regulatory support. Our team supports municipalities, Public Utility Districts, public and private water companies, and a range of industries in finding, accessing, and protecting water resources. We also provide support services for clients and engineering teaming partners with GIS analyses, managed aquifer recharge feasibility assessments, water system plan updates, and wellhead protection programs to help clients make well-informed decisions for their communities.
Strata strives constantly to keep abreast of changing water rights policy and legal issues so we can provide prompt and cost-effective guidance to clients on issues that affect their water rights portfolios. Our clients range from large municipalities to individual private landowners. Our team has expertise both in acquiring new water rights and in transferring and changing existing water rights. We work with our clients to evaluate water right mitigation strategies through our understanding of aquifer hydraulics, regulatory requirements, and our ability to make project-specific groundwater models of appropriate scale and sophistication to meet project needs.
