Burt Clothier

LHG, RG, Principal Hydrogeologist

Burt Clothier

Burt is a Licensed Hydrogeologist with over 34 years of experience. He has been Project Manager or lead investigator on water resource projects throughout the Pacific Northwest with a special emphasis on South Puget Sound.

Burt's specialties include regional hydrogeologic interpretations, water well construction, water rights processing, and wellhead protection planning. His extensive history in the region led to close collaboration on three US Geological Survey groundwater modeling projects, each of which will improve groundwater resource evaluations and management planning efforts.

Burt has built strong relationships with public and private water purveyors and has a long history of involvement in local watershed planning and modeling in the South Puget Sound. Experienced in water resource development, Burt has overseen the construction and testing of more than 60 wells in Oregon and Washington. He is also an authorized permit writer under the Washington Department of Ecology Cost-reimbursement Consultant Pool and has authored dozens of Reports of Examination for water rights applications. He frequently consults to develop technical reports of findings for all phases of water rights planning and investigation.

Inger Jackson

LHG, Principal Hydrogeologist

Inger Jackson

Inger has been assisting clients in developing groundwater resources for 29 years, with skills ranging from hydrogeologic characterization to new well planning, construction, and testing support.

Her project experience includes identifying preferred locations for future production wells; test well drilling, testing, and analysis to confirm the conceptual model, estimate aquifer properties, and potential production well yields; installing, designing, and testing of large-capacity production wells. Inger’s extensive experience with well construction and testing, combined with her keen attention to detail, translates to thorough technical drilling specifications that clearly define contractor, owner, and consultant responsibilities and generate representative bids.

She has been involved in developing wellfields for Clark Public Utilities, the City of Camas, the City of Arlington, and a 10-million-gallon-per-day municipal wellfield in Hebei Province, China. In addition to well design, Inger’s specialties include developing conceptual groundwater models of local and basin-scale systems, developing wellhead protection plans, providing technical support for processing water rights applications, and designing monitoring networks.

Travis Klaas

Travis Klaas

Travis is a licensed hydrogeologist with 15 years of consulting experience in project management, water resources, site characterization, contaminant hydrogeology, landfill permitting, and environmental data management.

Travis has extensive experience managing and conducting geologic and hydrogeologic investigations to support public and private clients throughout the Pacific Northwest. His strengths include a regional hydrogeologic understanding, water well construction, aquifer testing and analysis, and water rights processing and support. His successful projects have been achieved through cooperative planning, open communication, and a focus on understanding clients’ goals, concerns, and timelines.

Glenn Mutti-Driscoll

LHG, Principal Hydrogeologist

Glenn Mutti-Driscoll

Glenn is a licensed hydrogeologist with 19 years of consulting experience, during which he has applied his aquifer hydraulics and geochemistry skill set to a variety of projects in the Pacific Northwest.

Glenn has been involved in numerous site characterization studies to better define subsurface geologic and geochemical conditions. He has conducted characterization and testing studies to evaluate contaminant migration, seawater intrusion, water supply well yield, infiltration feasibility, septic loading impacts, and design groundwater monitoring networks. Glenn has created and used groundwater models to evaluate contaminant transport, saltwater intrusion risks, groundwater/surface water interactions, groundwater mounding due to infiltration, water rights mitigation requirements, and to define wellhead protection areas.

Janet Knox

LG, Senior Environmental Geochemist

Janet Knox

Janet is an accomplished technical Environmental Geochemist and project strategist, bringing experience in the investigation and remediation of soil, sediment, surface water, groundwater, and vapor.

A recognized leader in regulatory strategy, Janet has ushered simple and complex projects to closure, helping clients navigate federal, state, and local regulations. Janet develops strong working relationships with agencies, focusing on the intent of regulation and identifying valid approaches to achieve that intent. She is innovative, using tools such as cost-benefit analysis, chemical forensics, fingerprinting, background studies, congener statistics, contaminant loading calculations, remediation levels, presumptive remedies, containment, and property-specific No Further Actions. Janet is a responsive, clear communicator and enjoys working with large groups of stakeholders for project success.

Janet closely evaluates site history as contamination and transport pathways strongly link to filling, paving, storage, and use. A recognized leader in regulatory strategy, Janet was involved in every revision of the Washington State Model Toxics Control Act. She has extensive experience in Superfund, Natural Resource Damage, Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA), and Toxic Substances Control Act (TSCA), for cost recovery and allocation success using quantitative and multiple lines of evidence.

Peter Schwartzman

LHG, Senior Technical Advisor

Peter Schwartzman

Peter brings experience in local hydrogeologic site assessments, regional groundwater resource evaluations, and contaminant hydrology.

He specializes in water-resource management for water-supply development, as influenced by land-use practices, and to optimize the control and use of stormwater and reclaimed water. His educational background in geology and hydrology is complemented by project experience in such areas as: characterization and computer modeling of groundwater flow systems; infiltration of stormwater, river water, and reclaimed water; assessment of stream-aquifer interaction and saltwater intrusion; design/installation/reconditioning of water-supply and monitoring wells; subsurface hydraulic testing, and contaminant delineation.

Peter has characterized groundwater flow systems on geographic scales ranging from local to regional and has managed monitoring programs to document trends in groundwater availability, water quality, and seawater intrusion. He has overseen the design, development and testing of numerous production wells, optimized wellfield operations and investigated hydrologic impacts associated with groundwater withdrawals. Peter has developed a variety of regional and local groundwater flow models and is proficient in many computer applications to hydrogeology. He has modeled surface-water/groundwater interactions and associated pumping impacts, infiltration through the unsaturated zone, managed aquifer recharge, aquifer storage and recovery (ASR), heat flow in the subsurface (for ground-source heat exchange systems) and contaminant fate and transport. He has co-instructed groundwater modeling courses and has contributed to the development of groundwater modeling software. Peter assists clients in obtaining new water rights and developing associated mitigation plans.
